Brain Food Wednesdays: Grow Your Career Like 4 TV and Literary Characters – MacGyver, Patrick Jane, Jack Reacher, Annja Creed
Dear Reader,
In this week’s newsletter, the 155th issue, I’m writing about how you can use the traits of TV shows and literary characters to grow your business and career. This year has been an interesting one for me. I invested a lot in professional development and in my business. I have to take the time to learn how to use the many programs I bought.
I took a six-week profitability course where I created a one-page business plan and my strategic plan for the first 90 days of 2023. I also took a Wealthy Consultants workshop series. Because of burnout, it took me a while to do all the homework for the course. I’ve since conducted informational interviews to understand the reading habits of senior leaders.
Over the next two weeks, I’ll analyze the interview and produce a white paper based on what I learn. I’m excited about this because I can learn a lot about what’s on these people’s minds.
After all the courses I took and the amount of reading I did I felt like I needed a break. I needed a break from books and that’s unusual for me. I haven’t owned a TV since 2007. I have Amazon Prime Video, so I looked to see what I had access to. Most of the shows they have I wasn’t interested in. I watched Reacher, Jack Ryan and The Mentalist.
One thing I want to say to you, is that when you read books, watch films and movies, and go out and about, never do so in isolation. Look for ways you can connect your experiences to come up with ideas. I did something like that and this article is the outcome. I had the idea to write the article, Grow Your Career Like 4 TV and Literary Characters – MacGyver, Patrick Jane, Jack Reacher, Annja Creed.
