My favorite intervention for treating nighttime fears in children
Nighttime fears are incredibly common in children and can be really frustrating for parents. Fortunately, they usually aren’t that hard to treat. Fortunately, a really smart sleep physican figured out a quick and easy intervention.
In 2006, Dr. Avi Sadeh created an intervention to help young children affected by the Israel-Lebanon conflict. Originally, this “Huggy Puppy” intervention was designed to help these children deal with trauma. But Dr. Sadeh figured out that this intervention could also help kids coming to the Tel Aviv sleep clinic for night time fears.
This intervention helps fearful kids
- Be less afraid
- Fall asleep more quickly
- Wake up less frequently at night
