🗝️ What If I Just Change One Keyword??

Last week I shared an easy way to speed up the writing process by asking Chat GPT to offer some substitutions!

Today I want to share a recent update!

I saw a post dipping realllly low for a high volume keyword (since May).

The name of this post was “Charcuterie Jars“.

I checked out my keywords in ahrefs and saw I was ranking (low) for another very similar keyword: “Charcuterie Cups” which has a 9.6k search volume!

So of course I wanted to target “JARS” instead of “CUPS”. (Not sure what I was thinking to begin with.)

So I made minimal but impactful changes and swapped out anytime I mentioned the keyword “jar” with “cup”. (one in the title, one in the meta description, and a handful in the body) and republished it.

It took my about 5 minutes total.

And 4 days later, the post immediately went from POSITION 96 to 12 for that keyword. (See below.)

Now you can see from this graph that the rankings for this keyword have been very inconsistent over the past 6 months.

Something that stands out to me is that once it reached #1, it did NOT stay there. Hmm…but why?

That’s very useful info. That either tells me that user intent is not matching up, the recipe is not great or users are not staying on the post long enough…(maybe poor images, slow page or not informative enough?)

Regardless, I am going to add this keyword to my tracker and keep a close eye on it!
