BFW-Elevate Your Cognitive Game: Unleashing the Power of ChatGPT for Deeper Insights into Your Book Notes

Dear Reader,

Listen to the Newsletter

Hey there, Brain Food enthusiasts! It’s time for another edition of our weekly newsletter, where we explore the fascinating world of learning and expanding your mind. Today, in issue 205, we’re diving into the incredible potential of ChatGPT and how it can help you become better leaders by leveraging the power of technology.

You may have heard about the buzz surrounding ChatGPT over the past year. This AI-powered tool has taken the world by storm, changing the way we write articles and engage with information. While many people use ChatGPT to generate their content, I believe there’s a better way to harness its capabilities. Let’s explore how you can work in harmony with this cutting-edge technology to unlock our true leadership potential.

Unlocking Leadership Potential

Imagine you’re on a quest to enhance your expertise in a specific subject—let’s say, cognitive science. To truly grasp the intricacies, it’s important to delve into a collection of pertinent literature – at least five books on the topic. Consider the following selections:

  1. Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman
  2. The Brain That Changes Itself by Norman Doidge
  3. How Emotions Are Made by Lisa Feldman Barrett
  4. Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain by David Eagleman
  5. Neurotribes: The Legacy of Autism and the Future of Neurodiversity by Steve Silberman

Read the Books

Read each of the five books and don’t ask ChatGPT to do so for you. If you do that, you may get inaccurate information. Use the leadership reading technique I teach to power through the five books. Here’s the process to follow:

1. Prepare Your Mind

  • Define a one-sentence purpose for reading each book.
  • Create a list of questions you want each book to answer.
  • Engage in brain gym exercises, listen to binaural beats audio, or enter the alpha brainwave state to achieve a relaxed yet alert state of mind.

2. Preview Each Book

  • Begin by reading the foreword, preface, and introduction to understand the main ideas.
  • Explore the index to identify important concepts and keywords.
  • Flip through the book, paying attention to charts, tables, diagrams, and images.
  • Examine the table of contents and select chapters and sections that align with your questions and purpose.

3. Read the Book

  • Focus on the chapters and sections previously identified as important.
  • Take notes of essential information and insights as you read.
  • After finishing each book, review your notes multiple times to extract the key ideas.

4. Use ChatGPT to Connect the Information

Share your book notes with ChatGPT individually, prompting the AI to await further cues. Share your notes sequentially, employing prompts such as “GO AHEAD” for a streamlined process. Here’s an example prompt structure:

“I’m going to give you five book notes on cognitive science books I’ve read. To start, please say GO AHEAD and I will paste a book note for a cognitive science book. Keep saying GO AHEAD and I will paste new book notes. When I am done, I will say FINISHED. Don’t do anything with each book note until I say FINISHED. At this stage, please save the book notes.”

“GO AHEAD

First Book Note: Thinking, Fast and Slow”

[Add your notes – this is not part of the prompt, simply instructions from me to you.]

Hit enter

ChatGPT will prompt you.

Once the notes are in ChatGPT’s hands, safeguard them until the “FINISHED” signal.

“FINISHED

Using the combined information from the five book notes on cognitive science you’ve saved, please analyze all the book notes. How are the books different or similar to each other?”

Leveling Up Your Book Notes

Remember, ChatGPT’s responses can be inconsistent‌. To maintain control over the analysis, provide specific instructions and ask for a simple analysis based on your notes. ChatGPT becomes a powerful tool when combined with your insights from the books. Instruct ChatGPT to devise a strategic process for comprehending and applying cognitive science principles.

ChatGPT excels in information synthesis. By upping your game and incorporating ChatGPT’s analysis into your book notes, you’ll gain a competitive edge. Imagine impressing your peers and superiors with your intelligent discussions, infused with unique insights inspired by ChatGPT.

Together, technology and knowledge open doors to leadership growth. Embrace the power of ChatGPT and unlock your full potential as a leader in your field. Stay curious, stay hungry for knowledge, and keep feeding your brain!
