BFW: Take Your Reading to Another Level to Grow Your Business
Dear Reader,
Welcome to another edition of Brain Food Wednesdays, your weekly intellectual feast. In the 238th issue, I’m writing about taking your reading to another level to grow your business. This is a follow up to last week’s post.
A few weeks ago, I started a 30 books in 30 days reading challenge. I created this challenge because I wanted to create a body of Bookish Notes to add to my membership site, the Art of Learning Leadership Academy. It’s about the seventh time I’ve taken part in this challenge. This time around, I decided not to have a list of books to read, but go by instinct.
There are a couple of books I read that weren’t great. However, most of them have been excellent, teaching me things I needed to learn. I accidentally stumbled upon two of these books.
But what has made the experience of taking part in the 30 books in 30 days so top-notch is I decided to intentionally connect books read during the challenge to books I read previously.
This active reading has taken my understanding of a topic to a new level. The Art of Impossible by Steven Kotler and 10X is Easier Than 2X by Benjamin Hardy and Dan Sullivan taught me the importance of setting impossible goals to take you to another level in your business. Most people don’t set big enough goals. While reflecting on those two books, I was reminded of 0.1% by Simeon Ivanov. These three books introduce you to exponential growth.
After I connected the three books above, I read You 2: A High Velocity Formula for Multiplying Your Personal Effectiveness in Quantum Leaps by Price Pritchett and the game changed even more. It’s as if I have an invisible hand guiding me. Have you ever felt like this? If you get the opportunity, please read the four books mentioned in this article.
The next time you pick up a nonfiction book to read, as you read, connect the new information to what you know. You never know what new ideas will emerge to help you grow your business.
